MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of endogenous small non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression by post transcriptional repression of messenger RNA.The swimming crab,Portunus trituberculatus,is one of the most important aquaculture crustacean species in China. However,to date no miRNAs have been reported to modulate growth in P.trituberculatus.In order to investigate the miRNAs involved in the growth of this specie, we constructed six small RNA libraries of the big individuals (BIs) and small individuals (SIs) from the high inbreeding family.
