Elevated pathogen/pathogen indicator concentration in rivers is a serious public health issue, and controlling it requires improving our existing understanding of bacteria transport at watershed scale. To improve in-stream bacteria predictions, a sub-model, which involves resuspension, deposition, and growth/decay of bacteria, was developed for the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT).
