Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed non-cutaneous neoplasm among males in Western countries and is estimated to result in ~ 30,000 deaths per year in the United States.In China deaths due to prostate cancer are increasing possibly due to the influence of Westem foods.The advent of widespread prostate specific antigen (PSA) screening has resulted in increased detection of prostate cancer and at earlier stages.A persistent and recalcitrant problem is that men with pathologically similar tumors often exhibit markedly different clinical outcomes following surgery or radiation therapy, and metastasis is invariably fatal.It is imperative that new quantitative methods be developed for patient stratification based on risk of recurrence and metastasis to enable appropriate patient management.To identify biomarkers and associated drug targets, we analyzed chromosomal DNA from 64 primary prostate tumors using array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH) and measured DNA copy number at 2400 independent genetic loci.
