Pacing at the right ventricular apex (RVA) is associated with a higher risk of cardiac failure.Unfortunately little is known about alternative pacing or defibrillation sites.We are aiming alternative pacing sites especially the septal region of the right ventricular outflow tract (s-RVOT) which has been suggested as preferable option for pacing.As we do not know defibrillation characteristics at this site we studied defibrillation thresholds at the s-RVOT comparing with the traditional RVA position.Advantages and disadvantages of the different lead positons will be pointed out.
