Separation and purification of gaseous mixtures by adsorption is an established process technology.Generally,the process uses porous solid materials such as activated carbons,carbon molecular sieves,zeolites,or silica gels as adsorbents.Especially,zeolites provide good gas (eg.CO2,H2O and N2) adsorption capacities and separation efficiencies,and have been widely investigated in pressure swing adsorption (PSA) and vacuum swing adsorption (VSA) technologies for CO2 separation from biogas or N2 from natural gas [1].Zeolites of chabazite and ZK-5 are crystallinemicroporous structures with uniformly sized pores of molecular dimensions and cavities of 8-ring windows [2].The chabazite zeolite with alkali and alkaline earth metals as the extra framework cations are used for the separation based on the difference in the interactions of O2 and N2 molecules with zeolite cations.The effects of cations are more readily revealed when zeolites with identical structure but different cation size,charge and concentration are used in adsorption studies [3-5].
