Neuroligins (Nlgs),the neural adhesion molecules, are thought to be required in synaptogenesis and functions via binding to their partners Neurexins (Nrxs). However, the precise in vivo function of each Nlg remains unclear. Here we described the expression pattern of Drosophila Neuroligin 4 (DNlg4) and characterized its role in the synaptic development and function. The DNlg4s are expressed in the CNS dominantly and concentrate in synapse at embryonic and larval stage.
