Primary aldosteronism is much more prevalent than originally thought.It is associated with an excess of organ damage to the heart, blood vessels, kidney and cardiovascular events.These clinical features warrant a more aggressive diagnostic approach in hypertensive patients for a timely diagnosis and an appropriate therapy.The diagnosis algorithm comprises screening tests followed by confirmatory and subtyping investigations leading to a potential curable form of hwertension.
