Objective: To determine, by way of systematic, and comprehensive review of all scientific published studies,whether there are any performance differences between private for-profit and private nonprofit hospitals.The second objective is to discover the proportion of all research that compares for-profit and nonprofit health care providers that is devoted to hospitals compared to all other health services providers.The third goal is to discover how any trends in observed performance differences among hospitals compare with trends among other provider types.
