Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) first described by Delecluse et al.(1997) as a variant of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) was later classified by WHO in 2008 as a variant of aggressive B-cell lymphoma distinct from DLBCL.PBL has an attraction for oral cavity.In clinical context immunodeficiency status and Epstein Barr virus (EBV) infection is characteristic though less frequently in an immunocompetent setting.The morphologic hallmark of PBL is a diffuse submucosal proliferation of monomorpic large sized tumor cells, with high nuclear cytoplasmic ratio, amphophillic or basophilic cytoplasm, centrally or eccentrically placed round nucleus and single centrally placed nucleolus.
