　　Incretins stimulate a decrease in blood glucose levels by stimulating of insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells.The incretin mimetics (GLP-1 receptor agonists) is a new class of drugs used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.I will review the safety and efficacy of incretin-based treatments for type 2 diabetes.I will also discuss the future drug development of incretin mimetics.
