Our research program has had a multi-pronged approach to heterocyclic chemistry.Since 2000, we have used triazoliniylidinecarbenes, derived from triazolium salt precursors, as catalysts for a variety of bond-forming events.[1] In several cases, these heterocycles have enabled us to generate new heterocycles with defined stereochemistry for applications in organic synthesis.
