@@ BackgroundThe principle of inclusive education was adopted in 1994, at the World Conference on Special Needs Education (UNESCO, 1994). The theme of inclusive education was restated at the World Education Forum (UNESCO, 2000) through the Millennium Development Goals. The more recent UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities, which came into effect in May 2008, also emphasizes on inclusive education (Rieser, 2008).
