Humans get cholesterol through de novo synthesis and intestinal absorption.Niemann Pick C1 Like 1 (NPC 1L1) is a polytopic transmembrane protein responsible for intestinal cholesterol absorption.We have shown that NPC1L1 mediates cholesterol uptake via vesicular endocytosis.
