Hemodynamic monitoring is very important for the burn and trauma therapy in critically ill patients, and runs throughout the treatment.Functional hemodynamic monitoring is the assessment of the dynamic interactions of hemodynamic variables in response to a defined perturbation.Accordingly, fluid responsiveness can be predicted in a quantities fashion by measuring as arterial pulse pressure variation and left ventricular stroke volume variation during positive pressure breathing or the change in cardiac output response to a passive leg raising maneuver.Functional hemodynamic monitoring breaks the static, realizes dynamic and individual monitoring, and is associated with the response to treatment, which is a useful complement to static (routine) hemodynamic monitoring.Nowadays, in the field of burn and trauma related sepsis, shock, mechanical ventilation etc, functional hemodynamic monitoring is more and more acceptable and applicable by medical personnel of burns and trauma ICU.Therefore further study should be focused and practiced.
