Recent experiments [1,2] performed at Linac Coherent Light Source showed that the Kα fluorescence spectra of dense Al plasma could not be reproduced by Stewart and Pyatts (SP) model [3] for ionization potential depression (IPD),but were consistent with an earlier model derived by Ecker and Kr?ll (EK)[4].However,this opinion was not supported by the very recent experiment implemented at the newly commissioned Orion Laser in the UK [5].In this experiment the observed spectra were found to be much closer to the SP model than the EK model.This inconsistence requires an additional evaluation of IPD models through other route independent on spectroscopic analysis.
