In Korea,the Rare Isotope Science Project (RISP) was recently established under the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) [1].The heavy ion accelerator facility for the RISP is named RAON.The RAON has a unique feature of having both Isotope Separation On-Line (ISOL) and In-Flight fragmentation (IF) systems for the various rare isotope productions.Electron beam ion source (EBIS) is an important charge breeding apparatus for the production of high intensity rare isotope (RI) beam in the ISOL system.
