Nischarin is a novel protein that binds to p21 activated kinase and alpha 5 integrin.Recently, we have demonstrated Nischarin regulates tumor cell migration and invasion.Since Nischarin has a significant role in invasion, we hypothesized that Nischarin may have differential expression in tumors.Several bioinformatic approaches have been proven to be very useful in identifying the novel prognostic markers, expression pattern of genes and to identify novel therapeutic approaches.First we have utilized serial analysis of gene expression (SAGE) to study the expression of Nischarin gene in breast carcinomas. This analysis revealed that Nischarin expression is significantly low in highly invasive breast carcinomas.
