Food Engineering has matured as a discipline to the point that there is a conference specifically dedicated to presenting original research and approaches to education (the International Conference on Engineering and Food) and a society of professionals engaged in food engineering (The International Society for Food Engineers).These develops came about because there were scientists and engineers who early on recognized that there was research and education that should be conducted specifically related to food.
