Al2O3 coatings were fabricated by multi-functional micro-plasma spray through axial powder feed.The flight particle velocity and temperature were measured by SprayWatch-2i.The average velocity exceeds 340 m/s,higher than the conventional plasma-sprayed alumina particle velocity (150~250 m/s).The average temperature,higher than 3000 ℃,is basically the same as the conventional plasma-sprayed alumina particle temperature (3050 ℃).Comparing with the conventional external powder feed,axial powder feed direction is consistent with the direction of plasma jet during plasma spray processes.The particles with high temperature and velocity are made by an initial velocity and a long time to be heated and accelerated.With the rising of Ar flow,the velocity of Al2O3 particles increases,but the temperature of the particle decreases gradually.
