The immune system consists of both general and organ specific compartments which interact.Factors that decrease or increase general and/or organ specific immune function contribute to cancer growth and/or elimination.Clinical results using local immunostimulation has shown permanent and almost uniform elimination of epidermal tumors including basal cell and squamous cell carcinomas, and malignant melanoma in situ.Tumor infiltrating cells resident at skin cancer sites are activated and eliminate the cancer.The mechanisms involve change of inflammation to immunity and proliferation to apoptosis.
