AIDS,a collection of symptoms associated with a immunodeficiency caused by HIV.Since,the predominant route of transmission is through mucosal route,a vaccine that activates both mucosal and systemic immunity at these sites is the best choice.Such vaccine if delivered through nanoparticles containing immunoadjuvants is the ultimate goal for vaccine for AIDS.In the present study,four peptide antigens from envelope,core and regulatory proteins of HIV-I,C-serotype was administered intranally in microsphere coentrapped with CpG as mucosal adjuvant (containing 2 & 3 CpG repeats) in mudne model.Single immunization schedule was attempted while alum immunization was used as a positive control.Sera & washes were collected periodically till 120 days.
