Our knowledge of the interior structure of solar system bodies is the key to the understanding of their origin and evolution and relies almost entirely on gravity, rotation and, when available, magnetic field measurements.Indeed, the accurate measurement of the rotational state and tidal deformations of a celestial body, together with altimetric and gravitational field measurements, provides strong constraints on its mass distribution and elastic properties against depth. In many cases, in addition to the thickness and density of differentiated internal layers, one may also determine their physical state, therefore revealing the presence of sub-surface oceans and fluid cores, as in the case of Titan and Mercury.
