The NASA mission Dawn was launched on September 27, 2007 and reached Vesta on July 16, 2011.Dawn orbited Vesta until September 2012, and then departed for Ceres, where it will arrive in early 2015.Vesta, a big, differentiated body orbiting the Main Asteroid Belt, was fully characterized by the mission.The exploration gave many surprises, letting us know a fascinating diversity of terrains and features visible on its surface.This talk will review the main findings of Dawn, illustrating whatwe know know about Vesta also with respect to the history of the Solar System.
