Vertical alignment (VA) technology has been investigated to induce an improved alignment of liquid crystals (LCs) for a high contrast ratio,wide viewing angle and a fast response time.Being an indispensable component in liquid-crystal displays (LCDs),polyimide (PI) alignment layer has been studied intensively.In this talk,Some of our recent progresses on PI alignment layer was reported.The solubility,thermal stability and rubbing resistance of PI were discussed.
