In this work, novel Ag/C3N4.5 composite nanowires in which Ag nanoparticles are embedded are synthesized by a facile method. The products have been characterized by X-ray powder diffraction(XRD),Fourier transform infrared(FTIR),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM),X-Ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and Raman. The optical bandgap of the sample is determined to be 3.07eV by UV-Visible absorption spectra. The growth mechanism of the novle composite nanowires is discussed. It is found that the Ag/C3N4.5 composite nanowires exhibit efficient photocatalytic activity for the degradation of rhodamine B(RhB)under mercury lamp illumination.
