　　The existence of solitary waves and periodic waves for a perturbed generalized BBM equation is established by using geometric singular perturbation theory.Attention goes to perturbations of the Hamiltonian vector field with an elliptic Hamiltonian of degree four,exhibiting a cuspidal loop.
