The Philippine Educational System is partly patterned after the American Educational System.However,it differs in the sense that under the Philippine Educational System,subdivided into elementary(6 years),secondary(4 years) and tertiary (4 or more years) only a total of 14 or more years of formal schooling is required to earn a Baccalaureate Degree.
Higher Educational Institutions offer academic programs that require secondary school cer-tificate, that is, completion of basic education(10 years of formal schooling ).Programs varyfrom vocational一technical Programs(1 to 3 years of vocational technical courses ),baccalau-reate programs ( 4 to 8 years ) and graduate programs(masteral courses ) and post graduateprograms(Doctoral courses),All these academic programs are aimed to providing the studentsa wide range of academic package designed to develop the required knowledge,skills, compe-tencies, attitudes&values for them to be competent and professional in their chosen disci-pline.
HEIs are also mandated by CHED to provide student personnel services aimed at helpingthe students develop positive self一concept and life skills and acquire values towards shapingthem to be productive citizens of the society.
