During fetal life, hematopoiesis majorly occurs in the liver.After birth, the site of hematopoiesis shifts from fetal liver to the bone marrow (BM).However, some recent studies have shown that the adult liver also contains stem cell population with potent hematopoietic-reconstitution potential.To investigate the properties of adult liver hematopoiesis, we compared the phenotype of liver lineage (Lin)-negative progenitor cells with that of BM counterparts.
