Reactive oxygen species (ROS) contribute to various signaling and maintenance of homeostasis.ROS level is increased in most disease sites including joint lesions of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.Higher ROS level than normal state collapses mitochondrial membrane potentia 1 (MMP), which leads to cellular apoptosis.Previously, we reported that B cell activating factor (BAFF) expression is enhanced by TNF-α treatment in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) of RA.Here, we examined if BAFF might affect cell death through ROS-induced MMP collapse in WIL2-NS human B lymphocytes.
