Despite the widespread use of limited recording techniques to identify the complete cessation of abnormal breathing and its effects during sleep, many studies have demonstrated significant improvement in SDB but without complete elimination of the phenomenon with adenotonsillectomy.Recent prospective investigations have also shown that there was reappearance of SDB and abnormal neurocognitive test results in up to 40% of the subjects 6 to 12 months post adenotonsillectomy.
