Renewed interests in highly exothermic and endothermic reactions, such as Fischer Tropsch synthesis (FTS), dimethyl ether (DME),and ammonia synthesis, have demanded the need for a catalyst support structure that is capable of handling the extreme thermal requirements of the reaction while promoting a high level of reaction efficiency.Typical modern methods for achieving success with these types of reactions usually involve very small diameter tubular reactors as well as high gas-recycle using commercially available catalyst particles.
