During the take-off course of the Rocket-Based Combined Cycle ( RBCC ) engine, the embedded strut-jet rocket in itself is a supersonic ejector. In the quasi-1D theory,i.e.,control volume method,of the supersonic ejector, its inevitable to run into the "Double-Solution Problem" when solving for the velocity of the mixing gas from the momentum equation. There are two kinds of mathematical solutions,i.e.,subsonic and supersonic, for the velocity of the mixing gas at the mixer outlet. However, theres only one kind of physical solutions, the other is unphysical and unstable.Up to now, there have been no effective criteria to theoretically identify the physical solutions yet.
