Purpose: In order to realize pathological changes of the urethral fibrous-muscular system related stress urinary incontinence (SUI), the structural components and the role of TGF-β1/Smad pathway in the urethra by parturitioninduced SUI was investigated.Materials and Methods: Forty 8-week-old Sprague-Dawley female rats at gestational day 16 were used and immediately after delivery, the rats were underwent vaginal balloon dilation for 4 hours.Results: Four weeks after ovariectomy, SUI model were developed in 17 of 20 experimental rats(85%).Extracellular matrix (ECM) was significantly increased in the urethras of SUI rats compare to normal controls.However, the muscle was significantly decreased compare to controls.
