In general,the green-emitting materials can be obtained by 4f–4f transition of Tb3+ ions doped in a host material.However,the 4f–4f transition of Tb3+ ions is forbidden with a low oscillator strength(<10-6).For example,Tb3+ ions cannot be effectively excited by near-UV lights(350-400 nm); consequently the application of Tb3+ as a green-emitting phosphor in white light emission diodes(W-LEDs)is limited by insufficient luminescence.
