  Rhytismataceae (Leotiomycetes, Ascomycota) is a common family living as endophytic, parasitic or saprophytic fungi associated with various plant species in temperate and tropical forest ecosystem.Japanese camellia (Camellia japonica), which commonly distributed across Japanese evergreen forests, has a few Rhytismataceous species on its leaf litter.They are known as selective lignin decomposers and produce bleaching portion on decomposing leaves after colonizing.
