Fungi in Cordyceps are pathogenic fungus infecting insects with medicinal properties.A wild isolate, Cordyceps pruinosa CP, was obtained from a fruiting body forming on the cocoon from Guizhou province, China.Morphological characteristics of this fungus was studied.The internal transcribed spacer (5.8S ITS), the largest subunit of RNA polymerase Ⅱ (rpb1) and mitochondrial ATP6 (atp6) sequence analyses were used for identification of the isolate.Both morphological and molecular methods identified this fungus as Cordyceps pruinosa.Then the mycelium metabolities of this fungus was checked by HPLC-MS.Cordycepin and N6-(2-hydroxyethyl)-adenosine were found in the fungus by HPLC-MS.
