Oral administration of drugs is the most common and convenient method.However, the oral bioavailability of hydrophilic macromolecules and peptide and protein drugs is generally poor because they are extensively degraded in the gastrointestinal tract or impermeable through the intestinal mucosa.For the systemic delivery of these drugs, parenteral administration is currently required in order to achieve their therapeutic activities.
