Mixed-monolayer-protected nanoparticles (NPs) are promising for energy and biological applications. The type and morphology of the monolayer on NP surfaces have a significant influence on the electrical, optical and magnetic properties of NPs.In this talk, I will first introduce our recent progress on mixed-monolayer-protected NPs with controlled self-assembled "striped" or "Janus" structures, including measurements of their surface structure conformation and formation mechanism, as well as potential applications.
