Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase-1(PARP-1)(ADP,adenosine diphosphate) is a 113kDanuclear protein that is involved in the signaling of DNA damageto recognize and to rapidly bind DNA singleordouble-strand breaks.PARP-1 is also capable of catalyzing thetransfer of ADP-ribose units from intracellular nicotinamideadenine dinucleotide(NAD+)to target proteins that mediate gene amplificationand transcriptional regulation,cell division and differentiation,as well as apoptosis and chromosome stability.Therefore,PARP-1 has emerged as apromising molecular drug target of cancer therapy.
