Yunling cattle is a three-way crossbred, of which the make-up of Yunling cattle is 1/2 Brahman, 1/4Murray Grey and 1/4 Yunnan Yellow cattle.Yunling cattle vary in color mainly from yellow, and black in hides with short and fine hair, intermediate in size, connecting well in all body parts, meticulous compact and more muscles, smaller head, bright eyes.Most of Yunling cattle are characterized with hornless, crosswise relaxing large ears, medium length of neck.Yunling bull have a larger hump over the shoulder, a developed dewlap under neck, chest and abdomen, wide and deep body, straight back waist, better formed hindquarter and hip.And,Yunling cow have a slightly hump, and a dewlap under neck.Yunling cattle possess slender tail, long limbs and strong hooves.The birth weights are 30.24±2.78 kg and 28.17±2.98 kg for male and female calves in Yunling cattle.The weaning and yearling weights are 182.5±18.8 kg and 176.8±17.6 kg, 284.4±33.7 kg and 281.0±34.1kg for male and female in Yunling cattle, respectively.The body height, body length are 148.92±4.25 cm and162.15±7.67 cm for adult Yunling bulls, 129.57±4.85 cm and 149.07±6.51 cm for Yunling cows, respectively.The body weights of Yunling bulls and cows reach 813.08±112.30 kg and 517.40±60.81 kg, respectively.In the process of top-grade beef production, the final weight reached 638.02±58.65 kg in the castrated Yunling bull at the age of 30 months, showing that dressing percentage was 65.81±6.05%, net meat percentage was41.07±2.40% (except for fat weight).And the loin eye area of 12-13th rib was 85.7±8.8 cm2, and the ratio of beef and bone was 4.71±0.59.The percentage of top-grade mass (fillet, high rib (chuck), rib eye and sirloin)accounted for 7.4% live weight.According to the standard of Japan, 70% animals reached Grade A3, with better taste and flavor, juiciness.Yunling cattle have the resistances to heat, tick and rough forage, and have some good performances involving in growth, precocious, reproduction, high-quality beef producing capability for snowflake beef and considerable benefit.Many farmers and farming enterprises are in great favor in Yunling cattle, promoting the stronger future for extension and application in the different climates in South China and Southeast Asia for grazing, "grazing + penned feeding" and "penned feeding".
