By 2010,the number of leamersstudying Chinese as their secondlanguageworldwide was forecast to be about 100 million(The People’S Daily,2006)．Many British schools and universities now offer Mandarin courses．Compared with European languages,the understanding of teaching Chinese as a foreign language isinadequate(Zhang and Li,2010)．
