5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5-hmC) is a modified form of cytosine, also referred to as the sixth DNA base, which has been detected in mammalians and is believed, like 5-methylcytosine, to also play an important role in switching genes on and off.In this study, we generated a genome-wide map of 5hmC in rice panicle using a sensitive chemical labeling method to capture DNA fragments with 5hrnC modification, followed by NGS sequencing.
