A critical stumbling block to the routineclinical implementation of human gene therapy isthe need for efficient and safe methods for genedelivery. While recombinant viruses are the mostefficient gene delivery vectors currently available, polymeric vectors have several advantages thatmake them a promising alternative. The development ofpolyplexes for gene delivery has grownrapidly to include cationic polymers such as poly-L-lysine(PLL), polyethylenmine(PEI), chitosan,pAMAM,dendrimers and many other polycation.
