Lilies,one of the most important cut flower crops,belong to the genus Lilium of the family Liliaceae.The 3 main groups of lily hybrids,Longiflorum,Asiatic hybrids and Oriental hybrids,are distributed in commercial market.Most Lilium species take some years to flowering from seedling,whereas L.×formolongi produced by crossing between L.formosanum×L.longiflorum,blooms within 12 months from seedling so that it is available for cut flower production by sowing seeds.To add the early flowering ability to Asiatic hybrids,interspecific hybridizaton and backcrosses had been carried out various combinations between diploid L.×formolongi (FF) and diploid Asiatic hybrids (AA) by using the cut style method of pollination.
