Isocyanide based multicomponent reactions (IMCRs) are very efficient atom-economical reactions that can assemble three or more different components into one molecule in a one-pot process, and have therefore been playing important roles in many fields.Among the IMCRs,Passerini reaction,a three component reaction first described in 1921,has been proved to be a powerful synthetic method that can yield an ester-amide linkage from a carboxylic acid,an aldehyde and an isocyanide. It is thus quite advantageous to use this reaction to prepare polymers with different architectures and functional groups in a very efficient and straightforward way.
