It is remarkable that suicide and suicide attempt rates are high not only in India, but also in countries with a substantial concentration of people who are part of the Indian diaspora.This is equally the case in Suriname, a country with a population of 450,000, where 400 to 750 suicide attempts were registered annually in the years 2003-2010.
