Background: Based on Taiwan governmental statistics report said that suicide population was 4,128 in 2009 and suicide is the ninth death cause.That is, the completed suicide rate in Kaohsiung city is higher than national average rate for ten consecutive years and it shows that we must care social problems.Methods: The study based on the 2008~2009 annual call-for-help telephone consulting log table in the KLL(Kaohsiung Lifeline)to analyse the log contents such as basic information, problem category, and contact type.Results: Referred to the KLL 2008~2009 statistical analysis, there were 12,724 cases for 2009 and 11,831 cases for 2008.KLL utilized the eSOS computer software with high risk of suicide care intervention for suicide prevention consulting.Females seeking help were more than males; age of majority was 40 to 49 years; college and university education or above were most; career was mostly to the jobless; unmarried were most welcome.There were 345 (2.71%) citizen having suicidal ideation.We found that there were 39.13%(135 cases) for psychology, 12.75% for couple relationship, and 12.46% for family problems from the statistical report.We also found that the most of the suicidal ideations were belonging to the unexpected idea.For example, there were 95 out of 345 females completed suicide in 2009 and 61% of them attempted to suicide themselves for relieving pain.Nine of them were save life during their suicide committing period.Conclusion: That is, we must strengthen the mental health assistance and consulting.It is also necessary for us to increase advocacy and diastolic pressure activities to well achieve the suicide prevention.
