New anticancer strategies have contributed to an improved survival of patients suffering from malignancies, and sometimes they have turned cancer into a chronic disease.Therefore, drug-induced cardiotoxicity is emerging as an important issue among cancer survivors.Among a rapidly increasing variety ofanticancer drugs, the anthracyclines and the monoclonal antibody, trastuzumab,are the agents with a well-known cardiotoxicity but although a number of efforts have been made trying to predict the risk, so far no consensus exists on the strategies to prevent and monitor chemotherapy-related cardiotoxicity.
