A study on the speciation distribution of 241Am in soil

　　The significance on chemical speciation is essential for assessing the mobility and bioavailability of radionuclide in various ecosystems and potential biological effect.In soil and sediment,sequential extraction techniques provide useful information about radionuclide reversibly or irreversibly associated with particle.It can give an indication of binding strength of soil pollutants and their potential mobilization over time in soil.In this study,the 241Am of three different concentration was added in the soil and incubated for a period of time.The Tessier five-step sequential extraction has been applied to determine the chemical speciation of 241Am in soil samples for different incubate time (1 month,2month,3 month).The chemical form of 241Am can be divided into exchangeable,carbonates complex,Fe-Mn oxides complex,organically-bound,and residue.Each manipulation is followed by an ICP-MS analysis of the leachate.Experimental results (fig.1.) reveal that the 241Am were mainly associated with carbonate fraction after added into soil for a long time.It indicates that a significant proportion of the 241Am in the soil is associated with relatively mobile geochemical phase and there are of high possibility of migration and bioavailability for 241Am in the soil sample.
