This paper indicates the requirements of non-destructive testing for pressure vessels in-service,researches the propagation characteristics of the acoustic emission(AE)wave that transmits in different steel plates,and analyzes the frequency dispersion phenomenon in these plates with a same excitation AE signal.Meanwhile,the characteristic parameters: peak amplitude in time domain,peak amplitude in frequency domain and energy are calculated and analyzed,then the attenuation trends of these parameters in different thickness are compared.This paper has some theoretical guiding sense for engineering application of the AE testing for pressure vessels,and provides experimental data supporting for promoting positioning accuracy of searching AE source,which has some engineering application value.
